Our Story

newLife-osu is a community devoted to pursuing the collegiate generation and preparing OSU students to serve God both here on our campus and throughout the world. newLife-osu became a student organization at OSU in 2002, with 6 students attending its first Bible study. The next fall, newLife-osu began holding church services on Sunday nights. An average of 40 people attended these services, and 3 Bible studies were offered throughout the week. newLife-osu continues to meet in the new Ohio Union, and it has continued to grow over the last several years, with an average of 110 people attending Sunday night services last year, Bible study groups meeting in 15 residence halls on campus, and 4 additional off-campus Bible studies.

newLife-osu is part of the New Life network of churches in central Ohio. Other New Life churches in the network include: New Life Church - Gahanna, New Life Church - Canal Winchester, New Life Church - Hilliard, ekklesia and New Life Community Church - Pataskala.

Our Message

There is a higher purpose than living for ourselves, and God has invited us to leverage our lives for His glory.

“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” - 2 Corinthians 5:20

“And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again.”

- 2 Corinthians 5:15

Our Mission

Gather.

We invite other people to Christ through our lives.

We send missionary groups to lead Bible studies in the dorms.

We interact with students all over campus.

Equip.

We create a culture of “life on life” discipleship.

We encourage involvement in Sunday services, Bible studies, Advances, worship training classes, etc.

We train new leaders on the job; they reach their peers through discipleship in dorm teams.

Send.

We train each student to leave OSU as a missionary.

We encourage all students to be involved in an overseas mission trip during college.

We develop teams of at least 15 people to plant churches on college campuses.

Our Goals

The purpose of newLife-osu is to unite and encourage Christ’s followers on campus, to reach out to the OSU community, and to prepare OSU students to serve God both here and around the world. Our major goal on the OSU campus is to establish at least one Bible study in each campus dorm. Another goal is to plant a church on another college campus each year, sending pastors, a worship team, and administrative staff to help build the church community.

Our Culture

The key to everything we do is creating a culture of discipleship. College students are mobile and passionate, and we believe that their hearts should be unleashed for the kingdom of God.
